gdewrell
I know this may not fit exactly in the bounds of this forum topic however I beleive it is you people who would have the knowledge to accomplish my goal so please grant me a little wiggle room. To prepare for a conferance I have a task where I have to configure 250 new PC's to boot to VHD without removing the existing OS.Easily done, I use WDS to boot the PCs and run a script that copies the vhd down to the PC and runs the appropriate BCDEDIT commands to create the boot2vhd boot option and set it to default. That is no problem works great. Now I want to take it a step further. At the end of the conferance I want remove the VHD file and reset the BCDstore back to normal. The catch is I do NOT want to have to boot the PCs back up the WDS server since it will already be packed up and gone. So I thought it would be greate if I could just create another BCD boot option when I setup the PCs that boots to a ram drive, executes a script that deletes the vhd file and resets the BCD store back to its original settings. Then in order to reset the PC's it is as simple as booting up and selectting the reset boot option I created and the rest is majic. BCD is easy, but I can't quite figure out how to boot to a ramdisk and run a script. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Gary
Tripredacus
There might be some licensing issues if you put a WinPE boot image on each PC, however you could have a USB key that boots a WinPE and makes the changes you need.
