I have read thru the website several times before trying to slipstream an XP SP0 to XP SP3 with critical updates with nLite. The slipstream was flawless. Kudos to the author(s). I have a XPCD folder that contains the "patched" file. Then I used nLite to create the ISO file. Used Sonic to "supposedly" create a bootable CD with the ISO file on the CD. Then I created a Virtual Machine and used the disk to install the slipstream windows. Awesome!!! I did this all at work on a working work machine.

So heres the problem. I just updated my home computer with new motherboard, CPU, and ram. I want to reinstall OS on harddrive since hardware is all new. However, when I put CD in and tell BIOS to boot from CD...nothing.

Any ideas would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

The only thing i could think is that you burnt the iso file as a file and not as an iso: you can check this by checking what files are on the burnt CD. If there is only one file, then it wasn't burnt correctly.

This is a common issue, expecially when using supposedly "user friendly" programs like "Sonic".

The point is that a .iso is a byte by byte copy of the (bootable) CD/DVD and the CD/DVD is a byte by byte copy of the .iso.

It is very common to call a .iso file an "image file", exactly for this reason, a .iso is the CD and the CD is the .iso.

You do not "add the .iso to a compilation" or to the "CD root" or to "a folder on CD" or anything like that, you simply "burn" the .iso (as is).

The "patched" file in the XPCD should be a .iso.

Use IMGBURN:

to burn this .iso image, quick tutorial here:
