hi guys......

been creating some super-light xp installs using nlite....but i have ran into an problem...although am not sure where the problem lies;in VMWARE configuration or in the nlit'ed Xp...

the problem is that my usb drives are not recognized in the nlited installation.

please help me......

Are you sure this is the latest Last Session.ini file? You have selected to remove components, but nothing is actually removed. Have you run nLite more than once on the same XP source? You should also check your BIOS to see if USB is enabled. The fact you are using nLite on Windows 7 can also cause unpredictable problems, as some users have reported.

Edit: I missed VMWare; have you installed all the appropriate drivers in VMWare?

can you tell me which option removes the usb support from the installation?

am trying to make an xp which uses the least amount of ram in idle......

and want to have jpeg wallpaper support.....

drivers are there......and i don't think usb flash drive needs an separate driver out of the box in XP or vmware......or does it?

Once nLite has finished work and you have a slimmed XP, you can't work on it again with nLite. You have to start with a new copy (source) every time.

I don't think there is such an option.

It would be a good idea to disable those system services you are not using.

and want to have jpeg wallpaper support.....

Look at pic #12 here http://win-x.site40....liteimages.html I don't remember the exact name of the option, but if you hover your mouse over them, they give an explanation. There is an option in Multimedia that you should NOT remove to keep the ability for wallpaper (maybe Windows Picture and Fax Viewer?)

It looks fine, although you shouldn't remove Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) if you are planning on using Windows Update, for example.

Look at this sticky on what is or isn't OK to remove to keep certain functions.
