sgbotsford Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Is it reasonable to separate the OS from the user data? In the hopes that when you have to reinstall everything (seems to happen with windows about once every two years) that most of your user data isn't mixed in with the OS?If so, how do you format two partitions at the start?
Guest Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 It's not only reasonable, it's crazy not to.To create 2 partitions at the start just press C when you get to the partition screen. I recommend that you only create one at the start and then create the 2nd partition through disk management once Windows is installed. The reason for this is that sometimes Windows will put the boot files on the second partition.
Kurt_Aust Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I'd suggest a 32GB boot partition (32800MB), I use that on the systems I build and it leaves plenty of space.Mind you I don't play games so you should check how much you need on your system (Windows + Program Files)*1.5 should do it.
