problem installing newest hotfix

using XP x86 SP3 + all hotfixes

Well, first of all, I'd check the integrity of the download, for example, its size (484KB). Which version of Internet Explorer are you using and did you apply KB2416400: Cumulative Security update for Windows Internet Explorer before trying this?

hmm

IE8 is installed (yumeyao's addon)

and KB2416400 wasn't also being installed due to some error

Go to the WINDOWS folder and find the logs about these updates. They should say more about why these updates are not being installed.

hmm size is another problem

what i download from MS link gets 1.2 KB in size only

no log is given for this one

I'm sure that is your problem, just like I mentioned in post #2. The download hasn't completed, so the installation cannot be successful. Try downloading later, or use another browser (or some kind of download accelerator) for the downloads.
