loblo Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Q: Why do I get a “Blue screen” I run the programs from Tolvan Data?A: This is a known problem that occurs on some computers, it seems like the common factor is the following combination:-Windows 98 or Me-Some, but not all VIA motherboard chipsets -Fast CPU’s, 650MHz+-Possibly a Sound Blaster Live! sound card-A floatting point exception (e.g. triggered by a division by zero in the programs)http://www.tolvan.com/blue_screen_Q_A.htmMy system which is Windows ME with a VIA chipset and an AMD Athlon64 2.6Ghz CPU (but no SB Live)is certainly victim of those and I can't run half of the Tolvan Data programs because of it. http://www.tolvan.com/products/And both the test programs posted at http://www.econos.de/fpu/ crash on my machine. Is there a possible fix for that?
Mijzelf Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Years ago there was a printer driver (HP, I think), which also gave FPU errors. A workaround was to switch off the FPU in the device manager.
