WPA without IE Core?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I decided to get rid of IE completely but realised that it is needed for OOBE.

I tried transfering my wpa.dbl from previous installation but it's not working despite I install on the same machine.

Is there any solution for this?

We know OOBE is needed for activation, but I'm nor sure IE is needed for OOBE (which you don't need as such if I understand). So I don't know what is your problem exactly. Reading the big red bold message up your screen might also help. If your machine is running since less than 30 days, it shouldn't be such a problem remaking your install CD ? :blushing:

edit: The wpa.dbl is an old trick, I'm not sure it still works after SP2. It only works with repair install anyway (formatting changes the volume's serial#).

What if I restore my VSN? It should work even without it since WPA claims to tolerate minor modifications (apart from VSN nothing is changed).

My aim is to remove as much as possible. At best both IE Core and OOBE.

nLite states that it is. I haven't tried yet. I'm a bit bored with compiling & reinstalling over and over to check :)
