nlite sata driver integration

Hi,

im installing a xp x86 sp3 at the moment, my motherboard is the GA-P35 DS3 in Rev 2.0.

my motherbord manufacture offers 2 sata drivers, one for installing later and one to be copied to a floppy and used at install time.

ive choosen the complete driver with extras.

i did point nlite to the file in the insert driver menu:

./Driver/x32/xraid_i.inf

after that i created a iso also via nlite from the directory where the cd was extracted with the added driver.

but after booting from the cd in question xp cant use my drive properly.

as usual i could create a partition, but after the first reboot i get something with read error.

the error i did get before the driver was inserted...so what did i do wrong?

You might try to integrate those as well (I'm no expert here);

./Floppy32/xraid_f.inf

./Floppy32/txtsetup.oem (as text mode)

metalfan, please attach your Last Session.ini, as requested in BOLD RED letters above. You need to point to a .inf file in a folder containing a txtsetup.oem file. In the naming convention shown, that wold be ./Floppy32/xraid_i.inf or something like that. I do not see it in your post. You need a 32 bit floppy (text mode) driver for XP. You have included no text mode driver for your RAID/SATA, so you cannot load XP. Find the correct files and point to the .inf. Enjoy, John.

EDIT:

i just realised that SATA Port 0/1 that can be set to IDE are located behind the graphics card...i did not see the connectors because the card uses 2 slots. will try to install with IDE settings now.

First try with the "new" driver failed, i have enabled AHCI and native SATA support in the bios this time

also something called controller is set to sata instead of ide this time.

...maybe it makes a difference.

i also tried to install xp with just setting the controller to ide mode, but it had no effect.

Cant attach Session.ini at the moment because the xp is installed to the machine that was running nlite.

metalfan, I would caution about your language. A moderator can be harsh on those. What does "Cant attach Session.ini at the moment because the xp is installed to the machine that was running nlite." mean - you wiped your nLite folder? The Last Session.ini should be on your CD/DVD - attach it from there. The real question is what is your HW? If you have SATA drives you must run them in SATA mode. AHCI and RAID will require a text mode driver. Both PATA and SATA (Parallel/Serial IDE) are IDE mode and I have no idea what your BIOS settings are doing to you. You need to decide what you will be using; SATA, SATA with AHCI, or RAID, then set it in your BIOS. It is always safe to include the text mode driver and is required for the SATA/RAID cases. I really don't understand what you are doing or why you are not using nLite to include your text mode driver (one with txtsetup.oem file). You can install XP on any partition that is large enough. Ok, what i want:

a multiboot solution with win7 and xp.

AHCI was on

SATA was in native mode

shouldnt this driver work with both choices, or do i need yet another file?

1. SATA with AHCI

2. SATA without AHCI

metalfan, if you will read the BOLD RED letters above, it says to attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Please edit your last post, delete your pasted Last Session and attach it, as requested. Thanks, John.

EDIT: You are running nLite under Vista (or W7) to create an ISO for XP. This can be a problem especially if you are integrating a Service Pack. You should also always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders and run nLite only once doing all your work. A dual boot with W7 and XP should work just fine. I am doing that on this machine. I have XP x64 and W7 x64, installing W7 second. All works fine. I think you need to look at the two Stickies by Fernando 1, above, (the driver expert here) for a driver. If yours does not work, then use one of Fernando 1's for your specific HW. Enjoy, John.

this time i added the same driver like the last time, but nlite was run with integrate drivers+make iso in one session..whatever difference there might be.

bios settings will be:

native mode enabled, AHCI disabled.

metalfan, looks like to me you are using the correct driver. Do you have a problem? Are all the four files in the Floppy32 folder? What is the result??????? Your system will run faster if you enable AHCI. You have a jMicron chip, so I don't think Fernando 1 has a driver for you at this time, at least not in those two posts. Enjoy, John.

i tried the above and also:

SATA AHCI Mode: AHCI

SATA Port0-1 Native Mode: Enabled

Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode: AHCI

in both cases winxp wasnt able to find a drive

i was not able to install winxp trough deleting all partitions and setting the following bios options:

SATA AHCI Mode: Disabled

SATA Port0-1 Native Mode: Disabled

Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode: IDE

the same settings were helping winxp detect the drive while win7 was installe on the first/second partition but xp was unable to work with that situation.

im still interested in using winxp with sata mode, will report back.
