March 12, 200224 yr My old PC (windows 95) with a pentium processer (slow--less than 200) crashed with damaged hard drive. I decided to buy a new pc rather than upgrade the harddrive. The new system is window XP home based. When I tried to install the Office 97 upgrade that I bought and installed on the old PC on the new it tells me that it will not install the software because it can not find a qualifing version of one of the old software titles. The new PC has microsoft works but all my files are Office 97 based. (I had a data backup). Is there any way to get my Office 97 installed on the new PC?
March 12, 200224 yr Well if the Office 97 is an upgrade Cd then you will need proff that you have a full version. This means that you will need a retail of any previous version of office other wise the install will be a no go...Byw, if this doesnt work out i would defenitly consider getting either Office 2000 or Xp they are far superior to the 97 eddition.-Drew
March 13, 200224 yr Microsoft is selling Office 2002, aka XP for $149 to anyone who has a student using their PC. Check around. This is a GREAT deal. Office XP is far superior to Of97.
