Tdunk18 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) Okay here's what i set out to do.I wanted to integrate on one dvd. XP Pro, XP Media Center Edition, XP Home, and XP Tablet Edition all on one disc. I want them to have all of their updates. I want it to OEM activate using Oemscan, i want it to be completely unattended during installation, and finally i want it to install drivers and (some software). Here what i have been using. Nlite (updates, service packs) (attempted to use to add addons)Driver Packs (installs the latest driver packs)Ryan VM (to integrate oemscan)Mrsmartepants (oem scan addon)CD Shell (havent gotten that working yet since i'm still stuck on step one)Okay so whats i've been able to do thus far. I can get service packs and updates to install fine no problem. However only 2 of my addons actually load out of 8. All downloaded from win addons. So thats what i have "working". I cannot get oem scan to work i have a set of the keys and slp stuff that i need. It just never seems to run. even using unattended on nlite it still asks me for a cd key (which i want to skip) its supposed to activate. Here's the steps i've been using for integration. 1: Nlite to install service packs, updates, and addons. 2. Ryan VM to install oem smartepants addon.3. Drag and drop oem keys into OEM folder in the (working xp directory)4. Then i use driverpacks for drivers. I just point it to my directory and then let it do its thing. So please if anyone has any links or help topics for helping me build this it would be monumentally appreciated. I'm new to all of this i'm a hardware guy not software so please bear in mind.Links for OEMscan is : http://www.siginetsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=541Last Session (2010.07.19-22.16.25).ini Edited August 3, 2010 by Tdunk18
johnhc Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Tdunk18, we need to see your Last Session.ini not the U_.ini. Please attach your Last Session.ini. Also please edit your first post and change the title to something meaningful (AddOns failing, oemscan fails...etc? - whatever you like). I will have no help for you concerning placing all the versions of XP on one DVD. Perhaps someone else will. Please give us link(s) to the oemscan information. Enjoy, John.

johnhc Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Tdunk18, thanks for the Last Session.ini and the title change. First, I see you are running nLite under W7 (or Vista) to create an ISO for XP. This can be a problem especially if you are integrating a Service Pack. Your text said you were, but your Last Session did not. In general you should always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders and run nLite only once doing all your work. Running nLite multiple time can cause some really wild symptoms. I am curious what the .cab files are for updates. What are the media updates? - not WMP11? I think it best to narrow your problems down and look at one to start. Please try a run (under XP if possible) with just your updates and let us know the outcome (hope you are using a virtual system for testing). BTW, I usually encourage posters to use only nLite or only some other program to process their source. When multiple programs are used, I, for one, cannot be of much help because I have no experience with them other than nLite. Enjoy, John.
Guest Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) @johnhc The WMP updates are fine. I made them so nLite doesn't break WMP 9. nlite-bug-when-slipstreaming-windows-windowsmedia-kbxxxxxx@Tdunk18 You may want to grab WindowsXP-KB2286198-x86-ENU.exe. It just came out this afternoon. Also any help with oemscan would be great. Can i integrate that with nlite? or is there an addon that does auto activation for nlite that i can use? I do have the slp keys ect... because the aio's made before me have them included ( i guess the guy tracked them down ).

I am not familiar with some of the terms you are using (slp, aio). I hope you are not using nLite in a work environment. The nLite license only allows personal use. It is available in the nLite folder in the Program Files folder. Please give it a read. Assuming you are OK with the license, please do post more information. The more the better. We like to see screen shots of error messages (another advantage of testing under a VM). We will take at look at oemscan, but know nothing at this time, so we should attach other problems first. Enjoy, John.

I have attached a picture of the addons i was using. Mainly this is the software i want nlite to install for me. The lastest openoffice, flash, adobe reader, vlc, java, and IE8. Are the addon's broken maybe? and do you guys know where i might find one / easily create one. I also did all of this on windows xp media center edition. Hopefully thats okay?. The drivers from driverpacks installed fine. It would be great to if i could use nlite to install microsoft security essentials but i'm somewhat doubtful it could. I also went ahead and did not include the oem pre activation at all since i need to get this stuff working first. Also do you guys know a link to microsofts generic install keys? the ones that will let it install but not activate online. I need that for the pre activation and am having trouble locating one.Last Session (2010.08.03-11.34.42).ini Edited August 3, 2010 by Tdunk18

Here is a link to an AddOn maker on RyanVM forum. There is also a "How to" above in the AddOn sub-forum. Both of these forums should be good candidates for AddOns. They are fairly easy to make but you should know that there are basically two types. One is a real or integrated AddOn in which the files are integrated by nLite and there are .inf or svcpack ones, where nLite creates a .inf file and includes the installer in the svcpack folder to be executed during install. I use only the IE8 AddOn (XP x64) so am not familiar with all of yours and cannot comment if they are just bad. It is a real possibility. XP MCE should be fine for running nLite. I install most of my applications using the Unattended-RunOnce exit and WPI. I use Open Office, Thunderbird and many more. The guide I follow is Kurt_Aust's - here. It is for XP x64, but the techniques are applicable to XP. The WPI forum is a couple below the nLite one. Did you drop all updates and oemscan this run? I noticed only SP2 was integrated - why? You only need to integrate SP3, no matter what your CD has on it. Enjoy, John.

I do it then i just simply select it like an update and it adds it to the list. let me show you a picture. and i dont know why it isnt telling you right because look at this, this is what nlite is telling me it see's. Its already got sp3 slipstreamed to it. And to your question yes i went ahead and added updates but i did not add in oem scan. The updates and addon packs are supposed to install together.
johnhc Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Tdunk18, I would say you posted the wrong Last Session.ini. You should attach the one named (exactly) Last Session.ini. It will be found in your source folder after you run nLite. There should be only one since you are running nLite only one time against a fresh copy of your CD files/folders. You can use this file to do your next nLite run, so you do not need to re-select all the files. Please do a run with no updates, just the AddOns and let us know. Enjoy, John.
Guest Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Regarding post #8, which add-ons are not working? Also, I don't see why you cant include MSE.
Tdunk18 Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Regarding post #8, which add-ons are not working? Also, I don't see why you cant include MSE.The addons that are not working are Java, Open Office, Flash 10.1. and i would have no idea how to make microsoft security essentials an addon so thats why i doubt it would work lol. I'm relatively..... slow on the programming level sometimes.
Guest Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 For Flash, see the ones I made here. For Java -> Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 21OpenOffice 3.0.1 is normally available here but the download link is broken. Try searching ryanvm.net for it.Let me look into MSE.
