60 GB Harddrive,

1.6 Intel Centrino Single Core processor

and 64 MB Intel Extreme Graphics 2 Card.

I should stick with XP Right?

With those specifications, you will probably find XP to be a better performer than Windows 7 on that machine in most scenarios.

512 MB RAM? If you had money for Win7, you might as well spring the extra $300+ for a full Win7 machine that has atleast 2GB. Though people do install a stripped-down Win7 on a 1GB netbook...

Keep it with XP indeed, 512MB less the 1 to 8MB it uses for the video card isn't much but will do for windows 7 home basic. Main problem is the basic video drivers that come with Windows 7; that driver would perform slow with the Intel Extreme Graphics 2. Other chipset functions are well supported I must say so is the soundchip.

The newer models do indeed, but there are loads left with windows XP who are sold cheap. As far as I can tell, Windows XP will stop to being shipped in October this year as Windows 7 would be released one year before that.

Any machine (regardless of being a desktop or laptop) with 1GB RAM or less I'd recommend XP.
