OS boot order and countdown

how can I change the order in the list of OSes when PC starts?

I have two MS XP in the list, but I want the one listed second to be listed first

also I want the time countdown till it automatically selects the first in the list to be set at 5 seconds

You will have to edit the Boot.ini to do what you want.

I think you can also use MsConfig to edit the start up.

Right-click "My Computer", then use menus Properties/ Advanced / Startup and Recovery.

It will let you change Default OS and time.

There's a button on that screen that lets you try gunsmokingman's suggestion (manual edition of the boot.ini) if you really need to change the display order.
