Open in new tab doesn't work in IE8 XP SP 3

When I'm using XP Corporate Edition, IE8 works fine, but at home I have fresh install of the retail version and suddenly I found that when the "Open in a new tab" item of the context menu is clicked, the tab is opened (it's caption is "Connecting") and nothing happens. "Open in a new window" doesn't work at all. I tried this (http://www.suryatechnologies.com/content/internet-explorer-8-open-new-tabwindow-does-not-work), unregistered that dll and registered again, still no joy.

Googling became so hard. Any help, please.

The problem isn't actxproxy.dll, it's likely your hlink/ieframe registrations have been overwritten with ones pointing to shdocvw.dll (IE8 doesn't use shdocvw.dll anymore, most everything got rolled into ieframe.dll with IE7 and shdocvw.dll is only left over for purely shell function calls). You could go about picking out and finding the offending registry entries with procmon, but it might be best to light that candle with a flamethrower (especially if it's a fairly new build) - there's a script here that'll do the whole thing for IE8.
