Merge (Windows 7) WinPE 3.0 with WinRE

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I am trying to merge these two utlities so I have a boot menu for selection of RE-PE-Windows(7)Setup.

My first problem :

When I try to create a ERD Boot Disc each time I select my Windows install disc the Wizard says it's not a valid path to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD. I tried several UNmodded install dvd's with no luck ????? Sometimes the WinRE Boot Media Wizard BROWSE(for install dvd) only shows the administrator folder. Running program AS ADMIN.

If I can get thru this part I can go to http://jacksontechnology.net/winpe.aspx , however I don't want anything for XP or Vista just the Windows 7 kernel !

My second problem :

When I use gimagex and export the one wim image to the other, I get no boot menu and only the one .wim loads. Checked Boot tab.

Been reading for a week and not good results

Actually I want to merge the following Win7 Kernels with a boot menu

Windows 7 Ultimate

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Windows 7 Professional

Windows 7 Professional x64

Server 2008 R2 Standard

Server 2008 R2 Enterprise

Win PE 3.0 x86

Win RE x86

Win RE x64

If I get this figured out I don't need my unused (student)Server 2008 R2 Ent key anymore !

The DVD boot menu should read

Windows Setup

Win PE

Win RE x86

Win RE x64

........ I think (?)

It would actually be VERY easy to do this, you wouldn't need anything besides the WAIK to do it. Once you realise the only thing about WinRE is it is a program that runs in WinPE you can put that program in your own WinPE. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to tell you anything more than that, but that little clue should be enough.
