JoeKickass
I cannot seem to get my OEM folder to copy files to the HDD of my new installs.According to instructions I understood that I had to create a folder in the following path on my install disc: E:\I386\$OEM$\$1\Install which should result in the folder "Install" and its contents being copied to the root of C: on the new machine. Alternate instructions said the folder should be at this path E:\$OEM$\$1\Install so to be on the safe side I did both.Neither "install" folder nor its contents showed up on the HDD of my new PC.I have been pulling my hair out all day over this; any help would be most appreciated.; Generated by nLite 1.4.9.1[Data]AutomaticUpdates="Yes"Autopartition=0MsDosInitiated=0UnattendedInstall="Yes"[Unattended]UnattendMode=DefaultHideUnattendSwitch="Yes"OemPreinstall="Yes"OemSkipEula="Yes"FileSystem=*WaitForReboot="No"NoWaitAfterTextMode=1NoWaitAfterGUIMode=1DriverSigningPolicy=IgnoreNonDriverSigningPolicy=IgnoreHibernation="No"[Display]Xresolution=1280Yresolution=800BitsPerPel=32[SystemRestore][GuiUnattended]EncryptedAdminPassword="No"AutoLogon="Yes"TimeZone=010OEMSkipRegional=1OemSkipWelcome=1[Components]Iis_common=OffIis_ftp=OffIis_inetmgr=OffIis_internetdataconnector=OffIis_nntp=OffIis_serversideincludes=OffIis_smtp=OffIis_webadmin=OffIis_webdav=OffIis_www=OffIis_www_vdir_scripts=OffIis_asp=Off[UserData]OrgName="joekickass"[RegionalSettings]LanguageGroup=1Language= "0409"[Networking]InstallDefaultComponents="Yes"[WindowsFirewall]Profiles=WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall[WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall]Mode=
chrisoborski
I've made many unattended cds and i've always used C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\Install. XPCD would be the root of your install .. as in what you would see on the E:\ drive after the cd is burned. I've never heard of using $OEM$ folder under the I386 directory. I used nlite once but havent used it about 5 years as i do it all manually now. The file you posted that was generated by nlite is that your last session.ini or winnt.sif. It should be a winnt.sif file. Also i do remember an issue with nlite not copying files because of not waiting to reboot. I would specify WaitForReboot="Yes" NoWaitAfterTextMode=0 NoWaitAfterGUIMode=0 instead.Im also thinking that UnattendMode=DefaultHide might help if you changed it to FullUnattended as a second option. Is your Install folder under $OEM$ spelled with a capital first letter? You should still see the install folder on your os hard drive though regardless. Refer to this page as it explains Everything http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/18/ On that page $OEM$ Is parallel to I386 not under it. It confusing at first glance i understand. The two are side by side.Hope That HelpsChris Edited May 9, 2010 by chrisoborski
JoeKickass
I figured it out; sort of. Maybe this will help someone else in the future. All my test installs were done on a virtual machine via VMWare. When I ran my Nlite install on real physical hardware it worked as advertised.I never thought that would be an issue, but there you go.
JustShootIt
Hello, I have the same issue, but I am not on a virtual machine. My $OEM$ folder is parallel to i386, as in the tutorials. However, the stuff in $OEM$\$1\Drivers is not copied. This should result in a "Drivers" folder in the partition where Windows gets installed (in this case, K:\).
