fx5171 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I installed a Windows Server 2003 which is created using nLite with option "Disable Windows Keys" checked in the "Tweaks" part. The problem is that I wanted to restore the functionality of the Windows key after installing but don't know what's the registry or policy that nLite has made the change. Thanks
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Well, this comes up on google. Open regedit and follow this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard LayoutSee if you can find this value: "Scancode Map"=hex:Of course, things are a bit more complicated because I don't know if nLite has actually removed any files pertinent to the function.
johnhc Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 fx5171 , if you don't find the Scancode Map value, then see if you have this one and code:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer Name: "NoWinKeys" Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) Value Data: 0 to disable restriction, or 1 to enable restriction Please let us know how nLite does it. Enjoy, John.
fx5171 Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 I can confirm nLite is using the Scan Code Map approach to disable the win keys.Strangely, I thought the tool remapkey can tell me if there's any keys are being remapped or removed but in this case it tells nothing. Thanks!
johnhc Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 fx5171, I assume your Windows Key is back. Thanks for reporting how nLite implemented the tweak. Enjoy, John.
