mrrod
Having problems with a wireless connected pc running windows 7 64 bit. Router is D-link DIR 615 and the nic is a DWA 130 rev c USB wireless N. I’ve had to configure the router to broadcast in G only due to the fact the nic keeps dropping connection in N even though the router is about 20 feet away with a corner of a wall just about in line of site, there’s no interference i.e. phones/microwave etc. So my problem is the latency on the windows 7 pc. I ran a test from www.pingtest.net and got the results:Packet loss = 12%Ping 1541msJitter 247msThen tested on shaw.ca site (my isp) and got the results:6.6Mbps download speed70kbps upload speedI then ran the same test on my laptop running Vista (also with wireless G) the laptop is 2 feet away from the router, test results i got were:Wired to modemPacket loss 0%Latency (ping) 18msJitter 4msD/L 13.45Mb/sU/L .97Mb/sWired to routerPacket loss 0%Latency (ping) 28msJitter 13msD/L 10.21 Mb/sU/L .89Mp/sWirelessPacket loss 0%Latency (ping) 283msJitter 90msD/L 7.69Mb/sU/L .34Mp/sSo, would problems with my wireless connection on the windows 7 be the setup of the USB nic and router? If so does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Or would it be the compatibility with the USB nic and windows 7? Or indeed the o/s itself? If it’s the nic, does anyone know of a good compatible nic for pcie
