xmf Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I'm pretty much leery of anything with Dell's name on it...They definitely make it sound important:1. Desktop System Software (DSS) or Notebook System Software (NSS) - A vital utility that provides critical updates and patches for the operating system. If you are reinstalling Windows or updating all drivers, it is important that this software be installed first. This is located under the System Utilities Category on the Drivers and Downloads page. Thanks
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Yes, I've seen it with HP as well. Let's look at it like this: you probably have a Dell CD with motherboard drivers, but through that software they will offer you the latest drivers they approve of. Please, bear in mind that some OEM manufacturers release drivers that can not be found on other places (for e.g. HP releases IDT audio drivers which you can't get from the IDT website). Why not just install it, try it and, if you don't like it...Remember, you always have the right to change the channel
xmf Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 I'm hesitant to try it because I'm not sure how to change the channel - if necessary.
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 It's a software, not a driver, so it must come with an uninstall option.
