PE Boot SD Flash Drive

I'm trying to create a PE boot disk for Windows 7 on a 2 GB SD flash drive. My BIOS allows me to boot from my card reader (and in fact hangs during the boot process if I have a card in the reader) so that's not a problem. What I don't seem to find is a way to make the card bootable. Can anybody point me to where I can find out how to do this?

Please do understand that you are mixing TWO different problems:

  1. actually "making the SD bootable"
  2. actually booting a Windows 7 based PE (PE 3.x) from it

They are NOT the same thing.

#1 is relatively easy and there are a number of ways to achieve that.

#2 is relatively difficult and AFAIK has not yet been documented

Here you have a start:

My BIOS allows me to boot from my card reader

Which hardware do you use?

Does BIOS approach SD card as a hard disk?

Did you tried generic PE boot?

Which windows driver is used at SD reader?

Does your windows use sdbus.sys, sffdisk.sys and sffp_sd.sys?

Did you apply KB976092? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976092/
