Can't open some files after re-installation

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just reinstalled Windows 7 Professional X64.

But now I cant open any .txt / .cmd /.bat files anymore?

Also I cant edit the hosts file.

For instance:

When I right click one of my batches (.bat) and then click edit, it says it cant find the file.

How can I fix this, and what is causing this, anyone knows?

All help is welcome!

I suppose it wasn't clean reinstall (no format + on top of old system)?

Check notepad.exe - both System32 and wow counterpart and also registry settings for .txt (txtfile), .cmd (cmdfile), etc..

Try running notepad and droping one of those file on notepad.

I doubt that it's security permissions releated, but better check those too.

Post your results afterwards..
