Guest Sensible Teapot Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Hi all,My name is Steve and I live in the North-West of England.I am married with 3 sons all of which have got married and had kids of their own.I have been retired since the 16th of March 1995 and my wife retired on the same day. I spent most of my working life in the Royal Navy as a Helicopter Mechanic, the Army in the Parachute Regiment and the Merchant Navy as a cook for which I never had a minutes training but nobody ever died, lolMy hobbies are computers, playing poker online, Comedy quiz shows on TV and driving. My hates are ignorant people and certain types of TV programmes. Any gardening, cooking, house renovation type shows are a waste of space as far as I'm concerned and don't even get me started on "Big Brother" or "I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of here"My computers tend to be old bits of junk that can be cobbled together and made to work rather than store bought and ready to go straight out of the box. At the moment, I am typing on a keyboard attached to a Compaq DC7100 using a 17" lcd screen but I also use an old HP Vectra VL 420 which works through a 42" LCD TV. Both use a wireless dongle to connect to my home network. I also have a few laptops about the place including, but not limited to, a Sony Vaio. 3 x Panasonic Toughbooks (CF-27, CF-35 and CF-41) and a Fujitsu C series Lifebook. Not all of the laptops are in tip-top condition, lol. I also have one new, store bought bit of kit which is an Advent netbook. If you discount the Advent and the TV, I reckon the total worth of all the other stuff combined is about £200 on a good day so having lots of computers doesn't mean "Money to burn" Is that about enough by way of an introduction?OK then.Cheers,Steve
Tripredacus Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Its amazing how many computers one can accumulate without spending much money. I know exactly what you mean about that, as I've probably spent about $3000-4000 on parts over the past 10 years yet have 6 PCs, a Mac Performa, 3 Compaq Elite notebooks, 1 Toshiba Tecra, 1 GRiDCase, 1 Compaq (forget the name) and 1 IBM Thinkpad. I didn't spend a dime on any of the notebooks either!
