Office Word 2003

Can anybody help me? I have been using Office 2003 on Vista for twelve months on my laptop. My problem which has just surfaced is that I can no longer save Word docs either by pressing save or by Save as or by Control S. I can still save wordpad docs, so I know it is not the wider Windows environment.

I have reinstalled Office which corrected the problem temporarily but once the Windows update has been done, the problem reoccurs. The only other thing that might be associated is that I keep getting a warning ' Saving the autoRecovery file is postponed for Normal.'???

Any help would be gratefully received.

Is your Normal.dot file modified? If not, then try deleting it and let word recreate the default normal.dot and see if that solves your problem.

The normal.dot template is found in c:\users\[youruserprofile]\appdata\roaming\microsoft\templates\

or just type "%appdata%\microsoft\templates\" in the run box.
