In 2009 i passed these M$ tests:

70-640, 70-620, 70-643, 70-642, 70-647, 70-236, 70-237, 70-238, 70-630, 70-652, 70-685, 70-432, 70-450, 70-680

I used to work for M$ so i just self studied. Once you work for M$ you understand how they think, so you can guess what to study.

For a novice instructor led training would be more valuable, but of course more expensive. Ive seen MCITP classes costing up to $12k. Usually these classes are only a couple of days. In my opinion, it would be better to spend a month self studying something, than to spend 2 days in a calls then take a test. You'll forget everything you learned in the class room. I also use server 2008 r2 as my home OS so i can learn it better.

It really depends on your comfort level, and your wallet. I didnt pay a penny for any certification because i self studied, and the tests/books were reimbursed by work.
