grossd Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Hello,On an old computer I'd like to create an XP installation that only includes components necessary for internet browsing and Skype. i am starting with an XP SP2 installation disk. Does there exist such a profile that i could somehow download?thank you,Daniel
Ponch Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 No, you'll have to decide yourself which components you will never need and which ones you want to keep. Also relevant is if you are limited by the size of the disk or by the power of the machine (how old is your "old computer"). As often disputed, nLite wil not make your XP much faster but make it smaller and faster to install.Only if you play with services will it make a difference.
grossd Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 Hello,Thank you for your reply.I once created a very minimal XP system that was able to run Excel 2007 but no networking. I ran it in a virtual machine, and indeed the system booted very fast and appeared to be fast also. I'd like to try this again but this time support networking so that the system can run either IE or Chrome and connect to the internet via DHCP.It appears to me that the system might at least boot faster ...the old computer has about 80 GB of hard drive and 800 MB or so ram and is 1.3 Ghz or so machine.thank you,Daniel
