How To integrate icons or edit them in windows unattended installation

hi,I am confused as to how to integrate nice standard win XP icons in my installation??Also i don't understand how to edit files like shell32.exe etc. cuz replacing all the icons or editing resources is too big a job to be done by simply using resource hacker....I might be wrong somewhere so plz guide me.

so,I can use the downloaded xpize to add custom visual components and don't need to edit shell32 anymore???
