rmanal Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Hello,I have generated a CD XP SP3 from an original CD XP SP1 by adding the SP3 and a driver. Now I have broken my original CD XP SP1 and I want to use the CD XP SP3 but I don't want anymore the added driver. Could anyone explain to me how to remove the modification done by Nlite for this driver in the XP SP3 directory?Thank youRmanal
johnhc Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 rmanal, welcome to the forum. The driver is in a folder, in a folder called NLDRV which is in your AMD64 (XP x64) or I386 (XP). The individual drivers are in folders named 001, 002, etc. Locate the one containing the driver you want to delete and delete the folder. I have not tried this and am not sure it will work. The safest way is, of course, is to start over with a fresh copy of your source and don't include the driver. You can use the same Preset as before and just delete the driver from nLite's list in the Driver Task. Please let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John.
rmanal Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 Effectively I find it but the problem is that it is called by some file like txtsetup.sif or netdos.inf. I would like to properly erase what have been done by Nlite.I know the safer and easier way but as I have said my original CD XP is broken.Thank youRmanal
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 It is also present in the HIVESFT.inf file. I would have told you to just delete the lines containing NLDRV from the TXTSETUP.SIF, but their use into three major installation files is scaring me and I wouldn't touch anything. As to the driver, since you don't have a XP CD anymore, you could just uninstall it after a fresh XP install; it shows in Add/Remove Programs.Enjoy
rmanal Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 If possible I would prefer to have a good installation CD instead of using ADD/REMOVE programes. What are these three files? When I do a research I discover that some of these files was not covered by this research, like txtsetup.sif: do you know how to do a complete research (I'm looking to find all the occurences of my .sys driver file in all the files of the XP directory made by Nlite)?Thank you
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 (edited) I'm afraid the ordinary search wasn't made to open every type of file and recognize text. These are the supported file types by Windows Search 4.0.HIVESFT.inf is related to the creation of Windows Registry, you can use TXTSETUP.SIF to include 3rd party drivers on the xp cd, modifying the minimum requirements to install windows, add files to your install, add or delete registry hives, and more; Dosnet.inf contains the list of files to copy to the temporary folder when you make an install or upgrade.I don't know any other way to find where information about your driver is added into the files; maybe THIS will help. rmanal Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 OK finally I used super finder XT and I have retrieved all places modified by the addition of this driver. In addition to your files (dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif), there is also the dorectory NLDRV to delete, and all the links made to this directory in the two previous files.I have cleaned my CD XP.Thank you for your help.
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 That's good to hear. Please report with the results.
rmanal Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 With the results? I'm not sure to anderstand. My CD XP is working well now.
