dubsdj Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I have a strange problem with my 3com officeconnect wireless access point.I can connect to it with my laptop and it gives me a valid IP address which included the router as the default gateway so that I can use the net.. But, strangely I cannot remote desktop to my PC's or ping them.. But I can ping the router. My ip address is on the same subnet and is valid.. I tried even using a static address but still cannot ping PC's on my network.Anybody know why?
CoffeeFiend Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 You might have access point isolation (or whatever it's called in your router) enabled.
dubsdj Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Sounds like the problem but the 3com access point has very limited options and nothing about isolation mode.IF I connect to my router using it's wireless I am able the ping and connect to the 3Com AP.I checked the settings on my router but couldn't find any isolation options there either.
dubsdj Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Ok I fixed the problem.1. I changed the wireless mode on the 3COM to repeater mode and selected the same channel as the Wireless router. Now the wireless router has a boosted signal and I can connect to both and remote desktop with either connection.thanks
dubsdj Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Actually I hadn't fixed the problem but now i have fixed it.It was actually Norton Internet Security Firewall only allowing shared trust to the 3COM Access Point.I change the trust level from shared to full trust and now it works.
