aspenjim Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 How can I make a temporary link to permanent files on my server (so as to not give the real links away)?I'm using sbs 2008 for a server.in other words if I have file.exe on my server and want to issue someone a random temp link to it like http://domain.com/abcdefghijklmopqrtstuvwxyz.exe that expires in a couple days..
ripken204 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 im not sure, just throwing out a possible solution, run a cron job that randomly generates a string and then renames that file.
g-force Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I don`t have a real solution for that.But I know some websites change just the foldername, not the filename.Example: ftp://root/2009.10.10/myfile.exe Next day: ftp://root/2009.10.11/myfile.exe
petergroft Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 If you have established a web presence and would like to change your domain to a new address, it is best not to just abandon your old domain. Bookmarks to your site and links to your site located on other pages throughout the internet will break if your content disappears without any instructions to the browser about how to find its new location. Changing domains without redirecting will cause your site to lose traffic from previous visitors and older links. Hope You Find This Useful, Peter
