Jerry76092 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) Hi everyone.I apologize if this is a total noob question.I have XP Pro, SP2. (32-bit)I used nLite to slipstream in SP3 and then grabbed all the updates from Microsoft. Added them all to the basket, etc. When all is said and done, ISO burned, etc. I go into Virtual PC 2007 and create a new VM to test everything. The thing always hangs after the install is done and the machine reboots and gets to the "please wait" XP splash screen.Does anyone have any ideas? What the heck am I doing wrong??Any help at all would be really appreciated.Thank you.-----EDIT: Please see attached.Thank you again.LAST_SESSION.INI Edited August 27, 2009 by Jerry76092
g-force Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Welcome @ MSFN-Forums!Please attach your "Last Session.ini" (Root of your ISO) to let us know what you`ve been doing.
Ponch Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 One of your updates has 185 characters in its name. I don't know if there is a limitation but I'd try putting them in a dedicated directory with a shorter path.
Guest Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 This isn't the cause of your problem but you're missing WindowsXP-KB953155-x86-ENU.exe.You can also add WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-ENU.exe (permanent copy of package installer).Remove X86-en-windowsxp-kb955839-x86-enu_0446f106b648d38c366c09e9c9016cea5b5732e7.exe and add WindowsXP-KB970653-v3-x86-ENU.exe instead since 970653 supersedes 955839.Take a look at the page in my signature.
Jerry76092 Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 Thanks. I will.I tried disabling OOBE and everything works now. I managed a full unattended installation and it booted all the way to the desktop.I wonder what that's about.. Anyway, it worked without OOBE.
Jerry76092 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 Hello again.I have gotten the image to the point where it installs all hotfixes. However, for it not to hang at the XP slash screen, I have to disable OOBE.It never boots unless it do this. Can I get OOBE to work at all or must I leave it disabled? Also, how can I now slipstream in .NET and WMP10?That's it.After that, I'll have the image I want.Thank you.
