I started with English Windows XP Corp and slipstreamed it with English SP3. I used the settings below. I installed from nLited ISO and found that:

- start menu -> properties -> classic start menu -> customize -> use personalized menus checkbox is checked

- display properties -> appearance -> effects -> use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips was grey checked

- screen resolution was not set properly (it was set to 800x600 AFAIR)

Is this supposed to happen when i use the settings presented below?

screen resolution was not set properly (it was set to 800x600 AFAIR)

Lemme guess this was a VMWare installation, huh?

See XP doesn't have the drivers for vmware video so it won't display the res you asked.

Either that or the same situation with your currernt video card.

The setting being grayed out and checked.

It's not doing anything. The setting has already been applied. You can run a registry comparison program, uncheck it and you will see it makes no changes.

It was not VMWare but i belive it might have been because I have mobo integrated GeForce6150SE/nForce430.

OK. Let's say one is solved. Two more to go.

Yup, this one. Actually it did make a difference - start menu had the "fade effect" working. It stopped after I unchecked this checkbox. Any ideas?

And what about personalized menus?

Also the gradient captions are still on. Should they? The 4th bit is set to 0.

Anyone can explain why 28th and 8th bits of UserPreferencesMask are set to 1?

My UserPreferencesMask is 90 32 03 80.

Was yours grayed out like mine? This image show the distinction...

Don't know why personalized menus isn't being applied. You can expand i386\nlite.in_ with 7-Zip and look around for where the tweaks are applied (believe they are near the bottom). See if there is an entry for IntelliMenus and if it's set to 0.

One more thing that did not work is tcp limit.

I run lvlLord Patcher 2.23d and it is telling me the limit is 10 connections.

Any ideas?

Go to this site and download their tool; I think it is the same one used in nLite. It will tell you exactly how many connections you have made (I see you set it to 256) and allow you to change that number. I don't know what went wrong with that setting. Maybe it's this one : Internet Explorer-Set Internet Explorer to accept 10 connects at a time.

Sp0iLedBrAt, just for grins I DLed and ran the Half-open limit fix 4.1. I got an error message saying I have an unsupported version of tcpip.sys. Perhaps this is because I have used nLite to patch the limit already? Enjoy, John.

Hi johnhc, I'm not sure why, but certainly not because it has already been modified. Just for the sake of your post I downloaded it and ran it; it showed that I had 100 open connections (10 is default, previously modified with nLite). I increased them to 101 and no problem. From what I could read in the change log, it supports operating systems up to Vista SP2, both 32 and 64-bit, so...

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to compare the tcpip.sys file version against your last TCP/IP update from MS, just to be on the safe side.
