jukkan Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) HelloI want to keep my XP installation as legit as possible, I just need to integrate SATA drivers into the CD. Nothing else. Well, it seems that nLite does stuff like writes the last_session files in to the setup folder without me telling it to do so. Even if I only select select the "integrate drivers" and "create a bootable ISO" options. So I'm wondering if nLite makes anything else without asking, like registry changes or anything? beats Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Well, it seems that nLite does stuff like writes the last_session files in to the setup folder without the me telling it to do so.By default nLite does, but you can disable this feature in nLite's options.
johnhc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) jukkan, beats is correct about the nLite option, but if you only want to slipstream the SP, then you can do that with the SP itself. Open a Command Prompt and run the SP with the /? switch. You will see all the valid switches. Then use the /integrate:<full path> switch to slip the SP into your source file. MS has an article on slipstreaming SPs and updates. I think you can put drivers in using the Unattended Guide above. Enjoy, John. Edited July 22, 2009 by johnhc
jukkan Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) I know there is an option for including the last_session files if you select the "options".. my point was, however, that nLite includes those files by default (maybe for debugging, who knows). Call me paranoid, but I don't like nLite doing anything BY DEFAULT. Thanks for trying to be of help, both of you, but I am yet to see an useful answer. Edited July 22, 2009 by jukkan
Guest Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 It will clean up some of the inf files also and perhaps add some things like ";modified by nLite" at the bottom. There will be some additions in respect to your drivers to both DOSNET.INF and one other one I cant recall right now. I should know as I was just messing with adding 1 driver yesterday but I'm old and forget things quick. Sort the folder by modified date and you will see the files nLite "touches".
johnhc Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) jukkan, seems simple to me. Use nLite or not. It is certainly not going to be changed to do 'nothing' by default, just for you. I gave you a straight forward procedure to include the SP (Straight MS) and suggest you look in the Guide to include the drivers. Then you get no extra stuff. I suspected you wanted no extra stuff from your first post. Have fun, John.EDIT: Site Map of Unattended Guide - see Drivers. Edited July 22, 2009 by johnhc
jukkan Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 Sorry John, I missed that last sentence of yours. Going to see into that guide. And thanks -X- for clearing things up a bit.
