spinjector
The nLite components page gives the option to remove MDAC and MS-JET, with the warning that they are needed for some Windows functions such as Active Directory.Has anyone tried to set nLite to remove MDAC & JET, but then install the latest versions of them with the MDAC 2.6 & JET4 installers from M$...?Or will the installers just overwrite/update the versions already there? Is this advisable/impossible/dumb...?Suggestions..?Thanks. johnhc
spinjector, I have not tried any of this, but my suggestion is to give it a try and report what you learn. I highly recommend a virtual system for the testing (VMware Server, VirtualPC, VirtualBox - all free). Enjoy, John.

g-force
I removed MDAC for one time years ago.I ran into several errors while working with my "slimmed-down-to-the-bones"-XP. I can`t remember what exactly it was, but I never touched this again.
