I'd like to modify the Welcome screen which displays as XP loads up (it has the single word 'Welcome' across the middle).

I need to do this without using a program that installs on the PC. 2 questions:

1. Where is it located (presumably in a dll somewhere)?

2. Can it be swapped easily by using a batch/cmd file?

The first link seems fine although restorator is a 30 day trial. Perhaps I can use resource hacker or similar here?

The second link takes me to a page where there are 2 dead links and the third is an installable program, not what I am after.
