Windows XP Reformatting Problems

Featured Replies

Hi, I have reformatted my home computer many times throughout the years with no problems. Last night I tried for the first time to reformat my

Gateway MX6422 laptop using the disc that came with the computer. Everything went smoothly but when it came time to for windows to ask the usual

questions (computer name etc . . .) it only asked for computer name and whether or not I wanted to turn on automatic updates not do i want to have

windows connect to the internet and questions like that. Windows then loaded with the only things in the lower right taskbar being windows security

and the power supply icon. I have tried reformatting it two times since and I keep getting the same results. I was expecting to see the usual volume,

synaptics pointing device, intel extreme graphics, windows messenger, local area connection, wireless network, etc . . . I am was wondering if anyone

knows why and more importantly how i can get everything besides the basic windows xp to load correctly. Any help regarding this would be greatly

appreciated. Thanks!

What exactly is written on that CD ?

Is there no second CD that says "Drivers & Utilities" or something like that ?
