Excuse my ignorance on this but, having had an XP system, with Install CD, for some years I now find myself with a Vista Home Premium system which only has a "hidden" reinstallation partition. No DVD.

Is there a way to create a slipstreamed DVD from this situation? Could it be done if I bought a Home Premium to Ultimate upgrade DVD?

no, it is not possible to create a DVD from that hidden partition. Get a clean DVD from a friend and use your key to reinstall.

Upgrade DVD should work.It should contain all nessesary files.The features unlocked depend on the key entered.

But to buy this? .Sry but at this point i would use slightly shadier methods and save some money

It's worth a try you could write to your Computer manufacturer & request a copy of Windows on dvd, some will come to the party. Especially if you mention you are very pleased with their product & will most likely purchase again in the near future.

Thanks for those suggestions. I'll try manufacturer (Novatech) first, then other means of acquiring a DVD.
