vLited Vista SP1 + SP2

Featured Replies

As the topic description says, is it possible to:

1- vLite (i.e., customize) Vista x86/x64 with SP1

2- Then, simply run SP2 RTM after installation of "customized" Vista with SP1

The point is I've read several times that it was not possible to slipstream SP2 with Vista SP1 using vLite or default Vista options. Being not fond of "brute-force" slipstream methods, I'd like to try the above.

Thank you!

Fair enough...

But it simply means that there are only two options (either / or) for installing Vista:

1- vLite and install the customzied Vista with SP1 and continue living with it until another genious like nuhu invents a similar tool compatible with SP2.

2- Buy or download the MSDN pre-slipstreamed version Vista with SP2 and install it as-is, i.e. without any customization (with vLite) whatsoever...

That's really weird, I think!

Anyway, vielen Dank, Andre!!!

use 2.

Get a Sp2 Slipstreamed ISO from Technet/MSDN und use it as a source for vLiting your Vista.

Thanks again!

So, does it mean vLite still works with SP2 too? That would be great to know!

It's a real pain in the a** you cannot even update to sp2 live in Vista sp1 with a Vlited installation. There must be a workaround....

what do you mean with vLite Installation? If you didn't use vLite to remove components you can delete this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\vLite

But, do not try this on a vLited Vista Sp1, Sp2 Installer will always FAIL!

this is right. Removing components breaks SP installer. Get a Sp2 slipstreamed DVD from MS (MSDN/Technet) and make a new vLited DVD and reinstall.
