doart Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I made a WinXp Pro DVD with nLite however when trying to install Windows it crashes with the blue death screen just after it finishes checking my system etc and just before the actual loading starts.I tried this twice each with a freshly made DVD, both times with the same results. Can anyone PLEASE help with this what am I doing wrong??
Guest Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Just a hunch but if "after it finishes checking my system etc and just before the actual loading starts" means right after the textmode portion of setup, then it's most likely that you didn't install mass storage drivers.
johnhc Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 doart, please post the Stop code with the BSOD. If it is a 07B, then you have not installed the correct text mode drivers (mass storage as by -X-). Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini (as mara- requested), and make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
doart Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) Thank guys for coming back to me it is appreciated. The progress bar on install prior to the crash was:Setup is loading filesSetup is starting Windows then CRASH!Stop Code is 0x0000006B (0xC000007A, 0x00000008, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) Process_1 Initialization Failed. I tried to install this on a physical HDD as well as in MS VM with the same results.I have attached the last session ini file I made very little changes to the components list on my last try incase I messed up and it seems I did just that. I probably did not flag something that is important. Please bear with me as I go through this learning curve.I made an unattended disk with software using the Almerza Multiset system and the same WinXp Pro disk. This installed with no problems at all however I would like to use the nLite system as this has so much more. Last_Session.ini Edited May 28, 2009 by doart
mara- Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I don't see any component removal here. Just some addons are added. Are you sure that you did not use nLite more then once to do changes on your XP files? It is highly recommended that you use nLite just once, and if you want to use it again you need to start from fresh copy, and do everything from begin. Also, I would not recommend using two different software for XP disc. Use only nLite or Almerza Multiset.Cheers
johnhc Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 doart, the stop says the file system is missing. Did you format your HDD in FAT or NTFS? I use NTFS and have seen no problems. If this fails on a VM, then it is not a driver problem. If you have not run nLite multiple time (as mara- pointed out), then I would suspect your source. Where did your source come from? How was SP3 added to it? If all is OK here, I would suggest removing all the AddOns and see it will work. I would also suggest doing all your testing on your VM until you get past this problem. Enjoy, John.
doart Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 Well! Well! Done at last I have managed to resolve the issue of the Crashing on WinXp install. First let me say that on each of my initial attempts and all the tests was with a clean nLite installation. As johnhc suggested it was just a matter of ellimernation "my dear Watson".Test 1. Only bare Windows no addins no changes made to components etc it then loaded 100% OKTest 2. loaded all my add ins and examined each one in turn. On my initially attempt I had the SP3 addin load first and second was RyansVM Update pack followed by all my other addins in no particular order for test 2 the SP3 was moved to second to last and the Ryan pack from last. This proved successfulAll went well and installed ok however the SP3 installed ok but it seems that RyansVM Update pack did not install I checked this via the Install program in the Control Panel with the show updates flagged, it shows only SP3.Thanks guys for all your advise would appreciate any feedback on RyansVM Update pack not installing or how to check if it installed or not and how do I install DotNet 3
Kelsenellenelvian Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 RyanVM's update pack WILL NOT show in the add\remove section at all.Google winupdateslist it's all in there...Since you seem familiar with ryans foum there is a .net all in one there that you can use in your disk...
Guest Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Run "QFECheck /v" at a command prompt to see the updates that are currently installed with RyanVM's update pack.
