theGAXman Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 If this is a known issue and I missed it, I apologize.I have an HP Mini and am trying to install an nLite'd copy of my HP Restore Disk via USB as it does not have a DVD drive. When I begin the installation, I get a screen saying:"Setup could not determine the type of computer you have, or you have chosen to manually specify the computer type."Is this normal? It gives me the options of "Standard PC with C-Step i486" and "Other." After choosing "Other," it requests the manufacturer's hardware support disk in drive A: (which I do not have), and after I hit enter, it tells me it could not find TXTSETUP.OEM. If I choose "Standard PC with C-Step i486," it begins the setup process, but keys on the keyboard function (including Caps Lock). The on/off button for my touchpad continues to work, if that's relevant. Here is a link to some screen shots from the process (pardon the quality, they were taken from my phone).http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dff935k8_39g8xskxg8Did I delete something I shouldn't have? Is it because it's running from usb?I have the original ISO and the nLite version. Thanks, theGAXman
cdob Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Did I delete something I shouldn't have?Most likely.Is it because it's running from usb?USB install dosn't cause this.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 We cannot really tell you anything without the last_session.ini file...Please ATTACH it not PASTE.
jaclaz Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Installing on the mini12 from USB is reported to work:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=130809with a "strange quirk" that can be fixed manually. So it must be something you removed too much. Or maybe it's the method you are using.WHICH method are you using for installing from USB?http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=157jaclaz
theGAXman Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 (edited) I was unable to find LAST_SESSION.INI on the USB stick, but here is the one from my ISO. I'm also attaching LAST_SESSION_U.INI in case it is also pertinent. The method I used for USB is here:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=111406EDIT: I probably should have looked at LAST_SESSION_U.INI before posting it, my bad. I have removed it.Thanks JaclazLAST_SESSION.INI Edited May 1, 2009 by theGAXman
jaclaz Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 The one reported to be working was the WinsetupfromUSB GUI one:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=120444but don't think it will make a difference. Most probably you deleted with nlite something that you shouldn't have.Let's wait for the nlite experts. In the meantime, if I were you I would remove from the post a file which incipit is:; nLite private info; (don't post it on the net, it's not important for debugging)jaclaz
