Bryce Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) So, I've got this Vista laptop with 1gb of RAM (don't ask) well I'm putting XP Pro on it and I've got the original disc, but how would I find the correct sata drivers and such for it? I've looked everywhere and can only find Intel sata drivers on the net, is that what they all are or what? Also, do the applications and drivers and updates need to be in a certain format or how does that work? The XP Pro disc is SP2, how would I integrate the SP3 updates and such as well? johnhc Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Bryce, a starting point is to run CPU-Z (a free program, see Google.) It will give you some information about your Main Board and what kind of chip set it has. If it is Intel, then go to their DL page and find the proper drivers. Good luck, John.
Bryce Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 I know the hardware, just not sure about which sata drivers I need.AMD Turion Mobile 64nVidia Geforce 6200 (I think gotta check)Broadcom BCM4311 Wireless
g-force Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 So how WE should know what hardware you`re using? With information about CPU, Graphiccard and WLAN we can`t know anything about Chipset and Controlers.
