... just installed the x64 version on my basement tower running a Pentium D 3.0GHz... system flies, but I hate the lack of support for drivers. Mainly, I have a Digivue capture card for security cameras. It worked fine on the x86 version, of course because they wrote the drivers for that o/s?!?! But when I asked them, the only other drivers hey had were for Vista?!?!

So now I have a smokin' tower... running a dual boot system with XP x64 on one of my 250G hdd's and UBUNTU on the other 250G hdd. If I can't find drivers to work the capture card... or even a new card hat works in x64, I'll have to down grade it...

Is x64 that much better on a puter that can run it than the x86 version?!?!

ciao!

I personally feel that the only reason to run a 64bit OS is to be able to do things a 32bit OS is not capable of doing. And having additional RAM, is not one of those reasons. IME the only reasons I have had to run 64bit OS is for large volumes and the ability to run 3 sound cards in one computer. But, hey, if you want to play around with it, that's cool too!

yea... makes sense. i have enough toyz to play around with so keeping it with x64 shouldn't be an issue.

3 soundcards?!?! what for??? 1 good one should be all you need, right?
