Christine_ts Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) First, i have:Acer Aspire 2920zChipset:Intel® GM965 Express ChipsetMemory Controller:82GM965I/O Controller:Intel® 82801HB/HR I/O Controller hub (ICH8M)Device Manager says:Intel® ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI ControllerVEN_8086&DEV_2829&SUBSYS_01351025I have download from Intel the Matrix Storage Manager and added all the files on my unattended Xp Cd (sp3).and they install correct and Xp boot and so on.But i feel that the diskaccess are slow sometime, just like the Hd is sleeping, but i have turned that function off in my Control Panel\Power Config.I also have new problems with some software i never had before, sometime they works, sometime not.Change in my desktop layout, changing Directorys rights and so on, even after a clean install.(And this is not a virus, that's well tested)A Disktest always give me this message:Cleaning up minor inconsistencies on the drive.Cleaning up 32 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.Cleaning up 32 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.This look like a world wide problem and Microsoft just say instal Sp3. Just as i have done !So now i wondering about my Txtsetup.inf, it is Ok ? Specially this part:[sourceDisksFiles]iaStor.sys = 100,,,,,,3_,4,1,,,1,4This i searched on Internet and find there, but now i'm not sure it's right.I also see a lot of other choise and combination here. iTwins Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 There is nothing much to configure on a Txtsetup.sif. It either works or it doesn't; there's nothing in between.Your slowness maybe a result of file allocation errors or worst, hdd bad sectors.It may also be that you installed too many applications that makes the operating system sluggish. Best way is to backup your existing OS and do a clean install. If it's still sluggish, then its most likely a hardware issue.
