HP 6730b / Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN

I have a strange issue with a customer regarding HP 6730b laptops which are running Windows XP SP3.

A problem arises when you enabled 'LAN/WAN Switching' in the BIOS (this prevents the WIFI & NIC to be used at the same time)

When you try to put the computer into Standby or Hibernation, occasionally, you get a message saying the Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN device is preventing the computer entering standby/hibernation'

I've tried using the supplied HP Drivers and also the latest drivers from the Intel website including using Intel PROSet software.

If the 'LAN/WAN Switching' is disabled we don't get the problem. Obviously this narrows the issue down but does anyone know of a fix or workaround for this behaviour?

Have tried suggestions around power settings and keeping the LAN/WIRELESS card on at all times, to no avail.

I have the same kind of problems with my 6730b and not found a solution yet.

When I issue standby of hibernation mode, the laptop is doing that.

When I try to wake it up, it does, but immediatly hangs.

No event in the eventviewer whatsoever.

I strongly belief it has to do with some Microsoft update.

I installed the laptop from scratch with xp pro sp1 and it worked fine.

Then upgraded to sp2 and sp3 and installed office, avg, etc.

After that, no standby / hibernation possible anymore.

Strange thing is I had the same problem with my HP NX9005 laptop.

I did not use wireless there.

Good suggestions are very welcome.
