I have a strange issue with a customer regarding HP 6730b laptops which are running Windows XP SP3. A problem arises when you enabled 'LAN/WAN Switching' in the BIOS (this prevents the WIFI & NIC to be used at the same time) When you try to put the computer into Standby or Hibernation, occasionally, you get a message saying the Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN device is preventing the computer entering standby/hibernation' I've tried using the supplied HP Drivers and also the latest drivers from the Intel website including using Intel PROSet software. If the 'LAN/WAN Switching' is disabled we don't get the problem. Obviously this narrows the issue down but does anyone know of a fix or workaround for this behaviour? Have tried suggestions around power settings and keeping the LAN/WIRELESS card on at all times, to no avail.
