checks Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I have a strange issue with a customer regarding HP 6730b laptops which are running Windows XP SP3.A problem arises when you enabled 'LAN/WAN Switching' in the BIOS (this prevents the WIFI & NIC to be used at the same time)When you try to put the computer into Standby or Hibernation, occasionally, you get a message saying the Intel WIFI Link 5100 AGN device is preventing the computer entering standby/hibernation'I've tried using the supplied HP Drivers and also the latest drivers from the Intel website including using Intel PROSet software. If the 'LAN/WAN Switching' is disabled we don't get the problem. Obviously this narrows the issue down but does anyone know of a fix or workaround for this behaviour?Have tried suggestions around power settings and keeping the LAN/WIRELESS card on at all times, to no avail.
tubamaniak Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I have the same kind of problems with my 6730b and not found a solution yet. When I issue standby of hibernation mode, the laptop is doing that. When I try to wake it up, it does, but immediatly hangs. No event in the eventviewer whatsoever.I strongly belief it has to do with some Microsoft update. I installed the laptop from scratch with xp pro sp1 and it worked fine. Then upgraded to sp2 and sp3 and installed office, avg, etc. After that, no standby / hibernation possible anymore.Strange thing is I had the same problem with my HP NX9005 laptop.I did not use wireless there.Good suggestions are very welcome.
