Kelsenellenelvian Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...product=3870985According to this you shouldn't have an issue doing this. What is the BSOD error code? Also what tatto? The oem marking? There are many ways to fix that if thats what you mean.Plus what is the XP disk you are using? Retail, OEM or MCE?

cluberti Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 7B == INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. Which sounds like the drives are SATA, hanging off a SATA controller, meaning you'd have to integrate the SATA drivers into the installation disc before XP will install properly (assuming you cannot switch to IDE compat mode in the BIOS, as you've stated you probably cannot do).
thumpa Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) where can i find sata drivers for my compaq laptop?? could you post the links for me please?.....at this moment the laptop only allows me to isntall vista and my laptop specs cant keep up with the OS. Even my vlited installs wont match. Would integerating Driver Packs do the trick? Edited March 29, 2009 by thumpa
cluberti Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Second link in a Google search looks promising. As we always say, learn to search.
CoffeeFiend Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Celeron 1.66GHz, 1GB of RAM, Intel GMA video... Ouch. The specs are barely better than a netbook. To be honest, I'd be looking into the return policies if it's brand new, unless it was dirt cheap or something. If you're stuck with it, more RAM would be a good investment (as low as $9 for a 1GB SODIMM of DDR2 around here).
thumpa Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Is it cheaper to upgrade ram, hdd and cpu? Because i love this laptop.....
