How To Add some protection to UBcd in TXT setup mode?

Recommended Posts

Guys!

I have been getting help from this Genious Community from last two years.I ENVY GOSH AND OTHERS ALSO WHO SHARE THEIR PRECIOUS KNOWLEDGE HERE,though they know a lot and they have there own living standards but still they come here often and help others.

Now i come to my problem.

I have almost understood the theme of how to create Super Unattended Xp cds and dvds. I am having a little problem and i hope that solving my problem would also increase your knowledge of tackling difficult yet different situations.

My quest is to find a way to protect my Unattend boot cd in the txt setup mode. I have a theme but don't know how to accomplish that. My theme is to run something while the txtsetup is running and that run command should check the system date if the sytem date is 2009 then it should check a file in the cd to detect the creation of the cd. and then decide to go further if the present day is in between the one month of the creation of the cd date. and if any thing goes wrong TXT SETUP SHOULD GIVE AN ERROR LIKE "ERROR COPYING FILES"

 (Yes I know that you have already guessed why i am doing this)Actually by doing this i want to protect my cd from being copied again and again but not giving any hint to user that it is date protected.

Some points :unsure::

  • I completely fail to guess why you are doing it, why don't you just tell us?
    More than this,
  • I also completely fail to see why you should/want do something like this through txtsetup.sif.

I also completely fail to understand why you need to post in colourful, BIG characters, of which the yellow ones are obviously nearly unreadable.

There is a very simple (and Legal) way to avoid that your Cd is copied :

DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO GET THEIR (FILTHY :w00t:) HANDS ON IT!

:hello: Dear jaclaz thanks for your comments as you mentioned i removed all COLOURS from my previous post. ;)

And the reason why I COLOURED my post was that i TRIED to make my post easily viewable on the first glance. Thanks for your effort to mention that it was barely readable. :(

Now i again come to my point i want to do all this because i know that some other normal SOFTWARE or Browsing expert will find the protection and will find a way to deal with cd easily. (Here where I Live)

but if i applied some protection in the TXTSETUP of windows that person will not even try to think about the protection. He will just think that the cd is totally or partially corrupted and he will never try to break the protection.

I hope that i have cleared your views and now do suggest me something about doing all this.

You seem to miss a point.

Unless you have a "special" license or agreement with Microsoft to do so, you are not Legally entitled to distribute a "unattended CD", no matter if "crippled" or not.

You can create an unattended Cd with your Licensed Windows Setup files, for your own exclusive use on the machines you have a license for, but you cannot share, sell or lend it to anyone else.

Helping you on this particular topic may be against Rules of this Board, particularly Rule #1.a:

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18408

1.a This is not a warez site! Links/Requests to warez and/or illegal material (porn, cracks, serials, etc..) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing WGA/activation/timebombs/license restrictions, use of keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated. You will be banned without notice.

We have a form of CATCH 22 here:

  • People who are licensed to redistribute MS files may ask how to tweak them.
  • If you need to ask how to tweak them you cannot redistribute MS software.

This said, I don't think that there is ANY way to use txtsetup.sif as a "date indexed" protection mechanism.
