XP Needs RAID drivers or install will fail

Hey. Wassup. I have a genuine version of windows XP and on any average computer this XP disc would install flawlessly. But my circumstance is I have a crap alienware laptop that doesn't have driver support.

Basically, if I continue the setup it will eventually fail because it won't recognize the HD.

The problem is I don't have a floppy to press F6 and load the necessary drivers, but I have my USB stick. MY MB supports USB boot.

I need my USB stick to boot like a floppy. Is this possible? I've been searching on the internet for 2 days and I've tried so many methods but none of them work. All I need is for it to act like a floppy - and then I press F6, and "GG". But, of course, its more complicated than that. There is so many retards and spam, and incorrect information on google, I decided to post on this forum. I can't use the HP boot program for USB's because I'm currently on VISTA and desperately trying to go back to XP.

If anyone knows how to make a USB drive boot like a floppy I would very much appreciate it. I know a lot about computers but this is new to me, please try and simplify it - thanks in advance!

Once again, I am ONLY trying to install a few drivers with F6 - NOT windows booting emulation stuff.

I have also tried nlite to modify my drivers on my windows disk, but after all is said and done, my windows cd is no longer bootable.

There are THREE ways to workaround your problem, but none use the "USB as floppy", which CANNOT be done unless you have one of the very few models of sticks that can do that and/or you have one with a "compatible" controller AND you find the specific "manufacturer tool" - and nonetheless you will need the info in 2) below:

1) create a new Cd with integrated drivers

2) use a "real" USB floppy

3) use grub4dos and virtual floppy

1) nlite can do it, as well as several other apps/methods:

2) F6 USB floppy

3) grub4dos "virtual floppy" (on USB stick)

I would try #3), if I were you, as it should be the easiest (without burning another CD).

There is a FOURTH way out, that you seem not interested in, which is installing XP from the USB stick, of course after integrating drivers as in 1) above, three methods/apps available:

Did you help me since?
Maybe I should have report results

I failed to load a boot image at vfd floppy, vdk, filedisk, imdisk, minifile

Driver may load, but image is not mounted.

I was stuck at the time, and still am. :(
Me too.

However there is Windows 7 in the meantime. Not tested so far:

Just dreaming:

combine grub4dos, vdrvroot.sys and vhdmp.sys to boot XP
