Vista desktop doesn't power off after shutdown

Hi everyone,

I have just experienced the following problem with my desktop.

- Windows XP + AHCI mode (Intel port, yellow) ==> Shutdown + Power off successful

- Vista Home Premium 32bit + AHCI mode (Intel, yellow port) => Shutdown but not Power off

- Vista Home Premium 32bit + AHCI mode (JMicron, purple port) => Shutdown + Power off successful

- Vista Home Premium 32bit + IDE mode => Shutdown + Power off successful

As you seen, using AHCI mode with purple port is fine but if I plug the second HDD into the second purple port, this HDD will appear as USB HDD in windows. Therefore, I want to use the yellow port which is Intel controller. Any suggestion to fix power off problem when using Intel SATA controller?

Thanks.

My specification:

CPU: Pentium D 3.2

Main: Giga P35-DS3

Graphic: NVIDIA 7100S

HDD: Seagate 250

Thank you for replying,

I'm now using the lastest BIOS version even beta version F14c. I also tried with F13, the result is still the same.

I noticed that either BIOS version F13 or F14c, the AHCI BIOS version is the same and old, i think.

This is the message that is displayed on my screen: "Serial ATA AHCI BIOS version iSrc 1.07 08042006"

So, probably Gigabyte has not been updated the intel AHCI on their updated BIOS.

Any idea?

Thanks.

Hi, I had same problem.

I'm using Vista 64 bit and AHCI on GB P35-DS3 and PC didn't shut down .

Installing latest drivers for raid controler solved the problem.Download it from support page for you MB.
