nitroshift Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) It seems that at least for now this feature is not working... Anyone knows a workaround? I've tried adding the machine on the server again with no luck. The error that comes up is "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted". And yes, I am an administrator on the domain, so no privilege issues... Edited January 13, 2009 by nitroshift
bj-kaiser Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 This may be of interest:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659First thing that fell into my eyes:"Domain member: Require strong (Windows 2000 or later) session key"active by default.there may be more things set to bite you.
nitroshift Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) Done relevant settings as per bj-kaiser's post and still no joy... Vista Business connected OK by specifying domain\username when asked for credentials. Tried it on win 7 but no luck. Edited January 12, 2009 by nitroshift
nitroshift Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 Just to mention that the issue has been solved... secpol.msc ---> Microsoft network client: Send unencrypted password to connect to third-party SMB servers set to enabled and voila
ButlerKevinD Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Ugh! Neanderthal Technology 4.0! Haven't touched that in years. Does Micro$oft still allow updates to it via Windows Updates?
awergh Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 yep windows update still works on NT4 though no new updates for it for a long time i think unlike nt5/5.1/5.2/6/6.1
arlesterc Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 NitropuppyI have a similar situation to you as far as Windows 7 and an NT 4 domain. Can you reprise the steps you took to get it working as I'm not sure if I have the full trail. I assume you have not had any problems since.Arlesterc
MrJinje Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) Just to mention that the issue has been solved... secpol.msc ---> Microsoft network client: Send unencrypted password to connect to third-party SMB servers set to enabled and voila Arlesterc, open secpol.msc and go here to make the change. You need to "Enable" that setting. (it should be disabled by default) Edited February 12, 2010 by MrJinje
