johnhc Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 bengt66, I assume since you are back that your hang has returned. I have DLed SP3 (WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe), the MD5 is BB25707C919DD835A9D9706B5725AF58 and the size is 316 MB (331,805,736 bytes). Please attach your latest Last Session.ini. Are you sure this is not an application problem? Have you asked the supplier? When you hang, what is your CPU doing - 100% or idle? What is your HDD(s) doing? Enjoy, John.
bengt66 Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Johnhc,I've downloaded SP3 again before i got your reply and tested. It seems to work with SP3 now!!! But I'm not sure how many times i've tried this... (the expression is not suitable to write here...) ;-) The new file corresponds to you MD5 and size.Do you perhaps also have MD5 and size for - IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe- wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exeI'm pretty sure it is not the application. I've tried quite a few "free to try" video editors. Everyone reacts the same way.Application hangs (does not respond)CPU "Idle"Disk "Idle"
johnhc Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 bengt66, here is the information on IE7 and WMP11. I run XP x64, so I don't use these, so I just DLed them. Let us know. You said SP3 worked - did you mean no hang? So, when do you get your hang? Is it with other stuff added to your ISOs? Please give us the details of what works and what fails, including Last Sessions if appropriate. Enjoy, John.IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe14.7 MB (15,452,536 bytes)MD5 EA16789F6FC1D2523F704E8F9AFBE906wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe24.5 MB (25,740,144 bytes)MD5 C5D9D62E35B4F8F5A6F495B41F532539
bengt66 Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 Hi Johnhc,What I meant is that I slipstreamed the newly downloaded SP3 into XP and installed. I then installed the videoediting program and sucessfully edited three (3) videofiles of large size. nothing else was added. I've never been able to do this with a nlited XP before. No hang at all!!! I'll see if I can add other programs to see if it still works. There must have been something wrong when downloading servicepacks before.Bengt
bengt66 Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 I don't get this!I've included WMP11 and IE7 and continued testing, videoediting hanged as usual...I've deleted all directories containing source files from XP. All new files corresponds to MD5 etc from johnhc.Empty directories. I'm using nlite to copy from original CD. Apply SP3 and include WMP11 and IE7. Local settings.Lastsession says:Env = 1.4.9.1 - 2.0.50727.1433.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3Target = Windows XP Professional SP3 - 5.1.2600.5512 - English (United States)Earlier lastsession says (as it should):Env = 1.4.9.1 - 2.0.50727.1433.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3Target = Windows XP Professional SP0 - 5.1.2600.0 - English (United States)RegardsBengtLast_Session.ini
johnhc Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 bengt66, this is truly strange. I would suggest you build and install an ISO containing only SP3. Test that to make sure it works OK, then add IE7 to that installation. If that works , then add WMP11 and test. To be clear, I mean to create only one ISO, then add IE7 then WMP11 from WUD. Please let us know the outcome. Thanks, John.
